TARIFF RELATED Q&A'S:

Q.  What is a moving tariff?

A.  A moving tariff is a set of rates, rules, and policies that either the mover or a third party publisher creates and publishes from which all of the mover's services, terms, and pricing are referenced and quoted for interstate moves.  A moving company must apply only the rates and pricing listed in its tariff, and as specified by the service options.

Q.  Am I required to have my own interstate moving tariff?

A.  Yes.  Per the May 4, 2007 ruling issued by the United States Surface Transportation Board, as of January 1, 2008 all interstate moving companies must create and use their own unique published interstate moving tariff.  Tariff Maker Publishing can help you to meet this deadline.

Q.  Can I use the 400N Tariff, another commonly used tariff, or another mover's tariff?

A.  No.  If your company is using the 400N Tariff or another mover's tariff after January 1, 2008, you will be in violation of the law and may be fined and/or prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Q.  How long does the process take to get my custom tariff completed?

A.  Typically 1-3 days on our end.  Once you have completed the your custom tariff configurator, it's a fairly quick turn-around for Tariff Maker Publishing to return to you a finished tariff product..

Q.
What types of options can I set-up in my custom tariff?

A.  Your tariff set-up choices for service and pricing configurations are vast and include:  transportation, packing, storage-in-transit,  shuttling, bulky items, stair flights, weight price adjustments, just to name a few.  However, you have the ability to set-up and customize virtually any service, cost, rule, or company policy in your custom tariff, so long as it conforms to the federal laws pertaining to interstate transportation of household good. Your custom tariff configurator will help you establish your options and prices for your finished tariff product.

Q.  How do I know that my custom tariff will be unique from other tariffs?

A.  First, you will be selecting your company's own service and pricing options for 20 or more of the most common tariff categories; that alone will ensure that your final tariff product will be specifically independent.  In addition, a certificate of authenticity will be provided to you along with your new tariff, attesting to its one-of-kind uniqueness as provided by Tariff Maker.

Q.  Can I use this tariff for rating my local or in-state moves?

A.  Most states have their own regulated tariff (e.g., California's Max 4 Tariff) that all carriers must use for conducting any in-state or intra state moves. The custom tariff that you are configuring through Tariff Maker Publishing is designed for interstate moves.
